The person was hit by a Northeast Corridor train for the New Jersey Transit just west of Princeton Junction Station at around 9:26 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13, an NJ Transit spokesperson said. Train No. 3825 had left New York Penn Station at 8:12 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Trenton at 9:48 a.m.

The pedestrian was also struck by an Amtrak train at the same location. None of the 180 passengers or crew members on the NJ Transit train were injured.

Northeast Corridor rail service was suspended for several hours in both directions between Princeton Junction and Trenton. A 12:21 p.m. update from NJ Transit said service resumed with up to 60-minute delays between Trenton and New Brunswick.

Local police are leading the investigation, the spokesperson also said.
